Sulforaphane is a sulfur-containing compound formed from glucoraphanin, a glucosinolate found in cruciferous plants. Glucoraphanin occurs throughout the plant but is concentrated in the seeds, which is why broccoli seed is the usual starting material for standardised extracts.

Standardisation

Broccoli seed extract is supplied in glucoraphanin-standardised or sulforaphane-standardised grades. Glucoraphanin content is normally measured by HPLC; conversion to sulforaphane depends on the enzyme myrosinase, which is why the two grades are specified separately. Standard market grades are available and custom standardisation can be produced to order.

Sulforaphane is widely studied as a plant-derived antioxidant. Most published work is based on laboratory and animal models; it is provided here as a research reference only and does not support any claim about effects in humans. Finished-product positioning and label copy should be reviewed against the rules of your target market.
