Blackberry fruit powder is produced from the mature fruit of blackberry (Rubus spp.) and supplied as a fine powder for beverage, food and nutritional applications. The powder carries the fruit's anthocyanin pigments together with its organic acid and fibre content.

Composition
Blackberry is rich in citric acid, malic acid and succinic acid, with a smaller sugar fraction. The pigment is an anthocyanin fraction, which is what gives the powder its purplish red colour and makes colour value a practical specification item. The fruit also supplies vitamin C, dietary fibre and the minerals calcium, magnesium and iron. Whole-fruit powders retain the fibre and the seed fraction; a clarified extract does not, so the two are not interchangeable in a formulation.
Applications
Blackberry fruit powder is used in powdered and instant beverages, smoothie and dairy blends, ice cream and desserts, bakery and confectionery, and as a natural colour source; it is also used in dietary supplement capsules and in cosmetic preparations where a berry-derived colour and flavour are wanted. It is supplied for further manufacturing rather than for direct consumer use.
