Composition
Sweet orange fruit supplies vitamin C, a range of B vitamins, amino acids and trace minerals, with potassium as the dominant mineral. The fruit is also a source of citrate and of a bioflavonoid fraction that includes hesperidin. Both the peel and the juice carry these compounds, which is why the powder is normally specified by the part of the fruit used as well as by its colour and acidity.
Applications
Sweet orange fruit powder is used in instant and powdered beverages, confectionery and bakery, dairy and ice cream applications, seasoning blends, and dietary supplement and effervescent formulations. It provides both a citrus flavour and a natural colour, and is used in cosmetics as a botanical ingredient.
